Project Overview

Sunbury Downs Secondary College is a Year 7–12 government school in Melbourne’s north-west, committed to providing engaging learning environments that support student success. As part of its ongoing investment in teaching spaces, the College recently expanded its facilities with four Mod10 relocatable classrooms.

While relocatable classrooms provide schools with a flexible way to accommodate growing enrolments, they can also present unique challenges for audiovisual installations.

Unlike traditional buildings, relocatable classrooms often have thinner wall construction and fewer concealed pathways for cabling. Without careful planning, installations can result in exposed conduit, untidy cable runs or equipment that distracts from the learning environment.

D.I.B Audio Visual recently completed the AV fit-out of all four relocatable classrooms, demonstrating that modular learning spaces can still benefit from a clean, professional installation.

Each classroom was equipped with an Epson 4,100 ANSI lumen ultra short throw laser projector, wall mounted to maximise teaching space while delivering bright, clear images for everyday lessons. An HDMI wall input plate provides simple connectivity for teachers, while Epson’s 15W two-way stereo speaker system ensures clear, even audio throughout the room.

Although the system itself is straightforward, delivering a neat finish required careful planning. Our team considered the unique construction of the relocatable buildings when selecting mounting methods, cable routes and equipment locations, minimising visible cabling and maintaining a consistent finish across all four classrooms.

The completed installation provides teachers with an easy-to-use presentation system while preserving the appearance of the learning space. It’s a reminder that regardless of whether a classroom is permanent or relocatable, thoughtful installation and attention to detail can make all the difference to the finished result.
