Updating Victoria Police Academy’s audiovisual systems

Since 1853, Victoria Police provides policing services to the Victoria community. In doing so, Victoria Police aims to uphold the law and preserve peace within the community by responding to emergency calls, preventing crime by detecting and investigating offences, and bringing to justice those responsible for committing them.

As Victoria Police expands their workforces, making it easier to train their new recruits is essential. As such, DIB Audio Visual worked with Victoria Police to update the audiovisual system inside their Police Academy to better serve the Academy’s purpose of developing the skills and capabilities of its trainees.

Installation process

Audiovisual equipment was installed in three rooms of the Police Academy.

The main bulk of this project involved the removal and relocation of various audiovisual equipment from one space into another space. This included moving existing Epson speakers, an Epson ceiling projector and its bracket and a Grandview projector screen.

In a second room, a new replacement lamp for the Epson EB-1945W projector was installed. Refreshing the projector lamp ensures that the projector continues to displays bright, vibrant images, making important subject content easier to see from any point in the room.

In a third room, DIB installed a Kramer HDMI distribution amplifier. This versatile hardware allows for images coming from one HDMI input to be mirrored on both projectors. Having two projectors displaying the content further ensures that nobody misses out on any important information being taught.

Additionally, an existing Joey Micro control panel was reprogrammed to suit the new system. These control panels make using the AV system hassle-free, placing all of the features of the system in a central, easy-to-use panel, with buttons that turn the system on and off, control the volume, and change the source to be shown on screen.

All three rooms were fitted with HDMI input plates, which allow users to connect their devices, such as laptops, to the projector and display content directly from their device. A 3.5mm audio connection was also fitted in these rooms, allowing users to connect their iPod, iPhones or MP3 players directly to the speaker system and play audio directly from their audio device.
