Four Ways to have a better audiovisual system

Four Ways to have a better audiovisual system

Over the last twenty years, DIB Audiovisual has designed and installed literally thousands of audiovisual systems for our clients in business and education.

There is a lot of choice out there in terms of equipment, some of it good, some frankly terrible.

So we thought we’d share a few tips with you on how to get a better audiovisual system.

  1. Think investment not costA typical AV system might have a life of 8-10 years, and over that time you will host a lot
of meetings, presentations or conferences in your room. You want to ensure you have the best sound and vision possible. So when choosing between options, go for the best you can afford as opposed to choosing cheap and suffering the consequences for the next decade.
  2. Make sure your installer understands acoustics.Installing an AV system isn’t just about the mechanics of wires and equipment. We come across systems all the time, where the previous installer obviously didn’t understand how sound behaves in a room. Things like glass, hard surfaces and the physical dimensions of the room will all impact on the choice and location of speakers for example.

In one dining hall installation, DIB chose a higher number of directional speakers to ensure
all attendees could hear well in a tricky acoustic environment.

  1. Consider the lightOf course light is the other enemy of poor quality AV equipment. We’ll often see situations
where a cheaper, low light intensity projector has been chosen for a high lit room like a gymnasium for example. In these situations, you need to get the highest intensity projector
you can. DIB Audiovisual recommends Epson projectors in many of our installations and in
particular high intensity laser projectors for well lit areas like gymnasiums.

  2. The last tip is about the user not the system. A better AV system is one that all users can use easily. This means it is installed and set up for easy operation. DIB Audiovisual will not only install quality products, but we will also pair them with simple user interfaces and pre defined settings that make it easy to set up a presentation, camera positions or a lesson or conference simple and easy.
