Project Overview
Catholic Regional College Caroline Springs is a Catholic secondary college in Melbourne’s west, committed to providing contemporary learning environments that support academic excellence, collaboration and personal growth. As the College continues to grow, the new Sacred Heart Building reflects its ongoing investment in facilities that enhance teaching, learning and communication across the school community.
Presentation spaces have become an essential part of modern schools, supporting everything from staff briefings and student presentations to professional learning and community events. To be effective, these spaces need technology that is reliable, intuitive and capable of delivering clear audio and engaging visuals.
Having partnered with the College since 2016, D.I.B Audio Visual collaborated closely with the College’s IT leadership, architects and consultants throughout the design process, delivering a presentation area that integrated seamlessly into the new building while providing a flexible and easy-to-use AV experience.
Although the presentation area occupies a relatively modest footprint, a 165-inch commercial video wall gives the room the visual impact of a much larger presentation space. Created using nine 55-inch Philips displays in a 3 × 3 configuration with ultra-slim 0.88 mm bezels, the system delivers a large-format display for presentations, assemblies and school events. At the time of the project’s design, this solution offered an effective balance between a traditional projector and a direct-view LED wall, providing a practical option that combined large-format presentation with excellent image quality.
To support long-term reliability, the video wall is installed using specialist Peerless mounting systems that allow individual display panels to be pulled forward for servicing while maintaining precise alignment across the entire wall, helping preserve its seamless appearance while simplifying future maintenance.
Flexible presentation options allow staff to connect via HDMI or wirelessly using the College’s Apple TV, while an integrated Optimal Audio sound system and Mipro wireless microphones ensure speech is heard clearly throughout the space. An intuitive Extron touch panel brings display, audio and source selection together into a single, easy-to-use interface, making the system easy for staff to operate while enabling central monitoring and simplifying ongoing support.
The presentation area is just one of several specialist learning spaces delivered as part of the Sacred Heart Building, each designed to support different teaching and communication requirements across the College.
Projects like the Sacred Heart Building demonstrate that successful school AV design goes beyond selecting quality equipment. Through careful planning and close collaboration, D.I.B Audio Visual delivered a presentation space that is reliable, straightforward to operate and ready to support learning, communication and school events for years to come.
