Project Overview
Located in Ormond, Melbourne, Kilvington Grammar School is a co-educational school providing education from early learning through to Year 12. As the school develops spaces for a range of activities, flexible and easy-to-use AV technology helps support their changing needs.
D.I.B Audio Visual has worked with Kilvington Grammar School since 2017 across a range of projects. For this refurbishment, the AV design was developed in consultation with ClarkeHopkinsClarke, with D.I.B engaged by Bowden Corporation to complete the installation.
The refurbishment focused on a multi-purpose room planned for future use as a band room and the school’s canteen area. Both spaces were designed to support their primary functions while also accommodating teaching, presentations and other activities when required.
In the multi-purpose room, the existing short-throw projector was removed and reinstalled as part of the refurbishment, providing projection onto a new vitreous enamel whiteboard. Its low-glare surface supports clear projected content while also functioning as a dry-erase writing surface. An 85-inch Samsung QBC commercial display provides an additional visual option, giving staff flexibility in how content is presented. Staff can connect via HDMI, USB-C or Vivi wireless presentation, with an Extron MLC 62 eight-button wall controller keeping operation straightforward. New stereo speakers support the projector, while a second vitreous enamel whiteboard provides another writable surface for teaching activities.
The canteen area received a 55-inch Samsung QET commercial display paired with a JBL Pro soundbar, with Vivi, HDMI and USB-C connectivity providing multiple ways to share content. An Extron MLC 55 six-button wall controller provides simple control for presentations, announcements and other visual content.
Early collaboration with the architect helped coordinate the AV requirements with the wider refurbishment and minimise potential challenges during installation. Ease of use was also central to the design, with dedicated Extron wall controllers providing physical button control and illuminated feedback.
By combining commercial displays, flexible connectivity and intuitive control, the refurbished spaces are equipped to support Kilvington Grammar School’s needs now and into the future.
