Project Overview

Footscray West Primary School is a vibrant government primary school in Melbourne’s west, committed to providing modern, engaging learning spaces for its students. D.I.B Audio Visual has proudly partnered with the school since 2010, delivering trusted AV solutions that meet the needs of staff, students, and the wider school community.

Our most recent project transformed the school’s new gymnasium into a flexible, easy-to-use AV hub. The gym serves as the central gathering space for whole-school assemblies, parent information sessions, large meetings, and community events. From the outset, the goal was clear: deliver a system that is simple, reliable, and adaptable — capable of supporting a range of school activities without complexity.

The installation features two impact-resistant Aurora LED displays, selected for durability in a high-use school environment. The screens can operate in mirrored mode (showing the same content on both displays) or independently, allowing different HDMI sources on each screen when needed, offering versatility for presentations, lessons, and events.

Control is managed via an Extron touchscreen panel, allowing staff to easily switch inputs, toggle between mirrored and independent display modes, and adjust audio levels with minimal effort.

Connectivity options were designed with flexibility in mind:

• Multiple HDMI wall plate connections at the front and rear of the gym
• Wireless connection via Vivi, enabling staff and students to connect devices without cables
• Bluetooth wall plate for instant audio streaming

The audio system also includes a Mipro wireless microphone setup along with wired and wireless inputs.

A key factor in the project’s success was our early involvement during construction. By working closely with the builder and school leadership, we ensured:

• Cabling was installed during wall rough-in
• Wall reinforcements and fixing points were positioned prior to wall completion
• Equipment mounting could proceed efficiently once finishes were complete

This proactive approach helped integrate the AV system seamlessly within the new building, avoiding post-construction modifications, minimising disruption, and supporting an efficient installation process.

The Footscray West Primary School gymnasium now boasts a reliable, easy-to-operate AV system designed to meet the demands of school assemblies, events, and community gatherings for years to come.
