AV systems for the campus
Classrooms, Conference Room, Library, and Gymnasium
Project Overview
Delivered under the Victorian Government’s VSBA new schools initiative, Biyala Primary School — known during planning and construction as Warralily Park Primary School — was designed to provide a modern, flexible learning environment for a growing community. D.I.B Audio Visual was engaged via public tender, working in partnership with Building Engineering — a long-term collaborator across multiple education projects.
The scope encompassed general learning areas, specialist classrooms, the library, conference facilities, and a large-scale gymnasium. As with many government projects, the AV systems were delivered in line with consultant specifications, requiring careful product selection, coordination, and compliance.
Learning & Specialist Spaces
General learning areas, along with art, technology, food preparation and music rooms, were equipped with 86-inch Philips displays, Extron panels, Vivi integration, and Bosch ceiling speakers.
The conference room includes simple plug-and-present connectivity, allowing staff to connect their own laptops to the display for meetings and presentations. A dedicated Crestron conferencing soundbar provides integrated camera and audio support for the room system. Across all spaces, intuitive control panels and clearly defined HDMI and USB-C input points were implemented to ensure systems are straightforward for staff to operate from day one.
Library – Coordinated & Future-Ready
The library required a more tailored solution. Shop drawings played an important role in coordinating services across trades, ensuring smooth integration before installation commenced.
An Epson 7,000 ANSI lumen laser projector with short-throw lens was installed, projecting onto a 120-inch motorised Grandview screen. Upgraded FBT ceiling speakers featuring back cans provide improved audio and consistent coverage throughout the space. An AV rack and Extron audio processing infrastructure were included to allow for future microphone expansion.
The sloped ceiling required custom threaded-rod mounting to achieve accurate projector alignment. Updated regulations also required engineered seismic restraints for ceiling-mounted equipment, ensuring compliance and student safety.
Gymnasium – Large-Scale Performance
The gymnasium installation centred around a 300-inch projection screen paired with an Epson EB-PU2220B 20,000-lumen laser projector to maintain image clarity across the expansive space. Full-range JBL CBT 1000 speakers and Sennheiser microphone systems support assemblies, performances, and whole-school events.
Due to the scale and weight of the equipment, the installation was carefully timed to take place before the timber sports flooring was completed. Seismic restraint systems were incorporated here as well, reflecting current compliance standards.
Working within a public tender process required clear documentation and close coordination across trades. The result is a compliant, scalable AV solution that supports daily teaching, collaboration, and whole-school events with confidence.
