St Catherine’s School, situated in Toorak, is an independent Christian day and boarding school exclusively for girls. Founded in 1896, it currently caters to 662 students.
When St Catherine’s School sought to refurbish their sports hall, they turned to DIB Audio Visual, a trusted partner with whom they’ve collaborated for over a decade. They needed to replace the outdated projector in their sports hall, a crucial element allowing the space to function as a versatile space for assemblies and sports events.
However, every space comes with its challenges, and this gym was no exception. Due to the large size of the area, it was crucial to have speakers that would be capable of producing sound across a large range. After consideration of the school’s unique needs, we installed four Cuboid 10 speakers. These were carefully selected after creating an audio map of the area to determine which speakers would provide even coverage throughout the hall.
To complement our audio setup we opted for a projector chosen for its capability of delivering up to 12,000 lumens of brightness this would help to prevent sunlight from impacting the visibility of the image. Additionally, we selected a projector with 4K enhancement, surpassing standard high definition to elevate the viewing experience.
This projector was securely mounted within a protective cage to safeguard against accidental damage and theft. In addition, to ensure clear audio for all students, we supplied two handheld wireless microphones, enabling presenters to be heard from any position in the hall.
Ease of use is a priority in all DIB designs. With this in mind, we decided to relocate and reprogram the existing touch control panel. Our approach is to make the complex simple so that users require little training. We achieved this by configuring the system to revert to its original sound volume levels once turned off, enabling the next user to adjust settings to their liking. The user interface along with other delicate equipment was placed inside a rack with metal doors to ensure its protection.
