Saint Ignatius College is a co-educational catholic college offering outstanding educational opportunities to young women and men in a positive and caring Christian community.
Saint Ignatius sought advice from DIB Audio Visual during the planning phase for their new sports precinct/ multipurpose venue, based on recommendations from their building services consultants. This space was to accommodate a wide array of functions, including sporting events, school performances, and assemblies. The design comprised a double indoor basketball stadium with several interconnected adjoining rooms.
Over a 12-month period, DIB met regularly with the consulting team and the school to design a versatile audio visual system suitable for the space. During this process, acoustic and lighting challenges of the building were taken into account, alongside the performance objectives and budget.
To meet these needs the audio visual system comprised of a LED Pixel Video Wall utilising advanced large screen technology akin to that used in venues like the MCG. This high-resolution, bright screen ensured functionality in any lighting conditions the stadium would face. The screen manufacturer was a deliberate choice, being an Australian-based company with local support and workshops for future maintenance.
Coupled with this amazing indoor screen was a computer-modelled sound system, with HDMI connections for laptops and direct audio inputs. These were strategically placed around the building to suit the different modes of operation.
Keeping with DIB’s key principle of ‘Simple to use AV systems’, the final solution needed to be not just highly effective but also simple to operate. Driven by this necessity, the completed design incorporated a touchscreen control panel interface.
DIB and the school worked closely together on the design of the control panel to ensure user-friendliness.
The objective of all DIB’s touch control system interfaces is to capture 80% of what the users want to do with one or two button presses!
The result was a versatile system capable of easily switching between different functions, from complex music setups to class presentations, capturing the needs of the school. This helped the school to minimise workload and achieve maximum utilisation of their valuable facility.
After completion of a project, DIB remains committed to their clients by providing post-installation support.
