Oak Park Primary School is located in the City of Moreland close to the border of the City of Moonee Valley. The school has become so popular that they have exceeded their capped enrolment of 400 students.
To ensure all students receive the best learning experience, they regularly upgrade their school facilities. As part of one of their upgrades, they reached out to DIB Audio Visual for assistance. The school desired to display content during assemblies, sports games, and events, for both students and parents.
In keeping with the school’s needs and budget, we selected a large venue laser projector to display the imagery. Because the gymnasium receives a lot of sunlight, we offered some affordable solutions to help control the lighting. This would enhance the quality of the picture and ultimately save the school from having to invest in a more expensive projector.
Most projects we work on come with their challenges and this job was no exception. Regular ball games are hosted within the space meaning any equipment was at risk of damage. Therefore, we chose impact-protected products and placed the projector in a steel cage. For extra security, we positioned the projector up high on the wall opposite the screen to minimise its exposure to potential impacts.
This location was favoured over mounting it to the ceiling because it remains readily accessible for servicing and maintenance. This was just one of the ways in which DIB created a simple yet highly effective design. By positioning the projector on the wall opposite the screen DIB had to ensure an appropriate lens was chosen- one that would be able to present a clear image from a distance. With years of experience, this posed no challenge for DIB.
We frequently hear complaints about the complexity of the audio visual systems installed by other companies. This is why simplicity is a priority in all DIB designs. To provide Oak Park Primary School with a user-friendly end product, we integrated their existing sound system into the projector. Additionally, we set up a wall control panel that allows users to adjust sound levels and power the projector on and off, eliminating the need for multiple remote controls that are prone to being lost.
Since the installation, Oak Park Primary School said “[we are] happy with the brightness and image, even on sunny days” and “[the projector is] getting a good workout in assemblies and some PE lessons too”. In regards to the interface they stated it was “simple” and the controls were “easy”.
