Luther College is a faith-based coeducational secondary school located in the Melbourne suburb of Croydon Hills.
Having worked with DIB Audio Visual on previous projects, Luther College commissioned us for another project. The task was to design and install an audio visual system in the gymnasium. Their goal was to equip the space with the tools needed to run assemblies and interactive classes where audio-visual equipment could support learning.
The requirements of this space were challenging due to regular ongoing ball sports played within the zone making it necessary to design a durable system. Due to the vast size of the gymnasium, the sound system needed to perform well in a large open area which presented acoustic challenges.
DIB used their experience and expertise to select a series of products, strategically designed to meet the needs of the space. This included a giant LED pixel screen selected for its quality, local support, and technical specifications.
Delicate equipment was housed in a separate room within an AV rack for added safeguarding, while carefully selected impact-rated speakers were positioned on the ceilings for optimal sound and protection. To protect the control interface, we installed a protective box around the control panel.
Considerable thought went into ensuring the system’s ease of use. Our installed sound system offers multiple audio inputs, including a handheld microphone, a head-worn microphone system, a wall-mounted Bluetooth interface, and audio from the large screen. The reliability of our wireless microphones is ensured through strategically placed antennas and active booster equipment. The vision aspect of the system features a range of inputs including HDMI at the gym’s entrance and wireless HDMI via Vivi.
Our design process involved close coordination with other Luther College trades through DIB’s detailed shop drawing process. This ensures clarity for clients regarding the placement of system elements within their space and provides coordination documents to share with other trades and the school property department.

This was essential during the Luther College gym transformation.
