Various installs in seven Mentone Girls’ Grammar spaces pt.2 (Touchscreens)

Mentone Girls’ Grammar is a trailblazer in girls’ education, earning a world-class reputation and a track-record of success since 1899. Mentone Girls’ Grammar aims to empower girls to strive for excellence and to shape them into global citizens who have the skills, capabilities and mindset seize opportunities and to make a difference. The school continues to be progressive, outward-looking and contemporary in their educational methods, fostering inclusive and diverse environments where girls can not engage in top-quality learning, but are supported through their learning journey.

DIB worked with Mentone Girls’ Grammar in installing new equipment inside seven classrooms. Five classrooms received received new projector systems and two received new monitors.

This article will cover the monitor installations. Click here for pt.2 Projectors!

Installation process

In both spaces, a 65″ Hitachi interactive LED panel was installed. This full HD, anti-glare touchscreen features 6 points of touch and is Mac ‘gestures’ touch compatible, allowing for a more hands-on element to be added into lesson plans. The monitor doesn’t require a driver to function, making it easy and hassle free for teachers who just want to “plug and play”.

In the junior learning support classroom, the monitor was wall-mounted using a high-quality wall-bracket. To make the system easier to use, DIB also installed an Extron MLC62 wall control panel in the room. These panels are set up with buttons that take the most important features of the system and makes them easy to access, which usually include: powering the system, source selection and volume control.

In the early learning centre, the Hitachi panel was installed on a mobile trolley system, using the Gilkon FP7 v3 Mobile Electric System. This heavy duty, height adjustable mobile touchscreen trolley features one touch electric lift capability for flat screens.

Both rooms feature a wide range of connectivity options. In the junior learning support classroom, DIB fitted various input plates, including a USB wall plate, a HDMI input plate and a VGA/audio input plate. In the early learning centre, VGA/audio, HDMI and USB leads were installed from the Hitachi panel to the trolley.
