Emmanuel College, with campuses in Point Cook and Altona North, delivers coeducation to Catholic secondary students.
Since 2016, DIB Audio Visual has partnered with the college on a number of projects.
Emmanuel college needed to upgrade their gym with an audio visual system installation. This space has multiple purposes aside from just sports. Some examples include hosting events and assemblies. Emmanuel College required a user-friendly AV system for these functions to avoid the hassle of repeatedly setting up portable screens and speakers. The desire was to have a permanent installation to simplify planning and accommodate events at short notice. Additionally, the crucial ability to stream or record events for those unable to attend in person was emphasised.
Installing an audio visual system in this space posed challenges due to the abundant sunlight in the stadium. The brightness from the large windows meant that it would be difficult for a projector to display clear images, prompting us to install LED walls as a remedy. Regarding the building’s structure, there were beams and pillars which would obstruct people’s view of a screen. Consequently, we installed a third screen onto the middle beam, complementing the two main screens at the front. This ensured that everyone, no matter their seating location, would have a clear view.
All the equipment was purposely chosen to be impact-rated to ensure durability during sports games. The screens used are very bright with clear visibility throughout the whole day. Additionally, the camera is a full HD PTZ model, offering sharp and crisp images even in rooms with high sunlight exposure.
DIB ensures that ease of use is considered throughout every step of the design process. As a result, we developed a powerful control system featuring a simple graphic user interface. The design of this interface was discussed with the college to tailor it to their specific requirements. Since the installation, the college has reported on the usability of the system, stating, “Using the touch screen controller is simple enough that anyone can configure the space on a moment’s notice and use it with confidence.”
Emmanuel College desired a simple but highly flexible system; therefore, we created a system that permits any input to any display mode. This includes the ability for all three screens to showcase either the same or different content, depending on the event or application.
Even after the completion of a project, DIB maintains its dedication to supporting clients by offering post-installation assistance. After Emmanuel College received their gym upgrade they said, “DIB have been fantastic to deal with in both the design and fit out of the system and with ongoing support as needed.”
