With a rural campus in Yarra Junction, Caulfield Grammar School strives to provide quality learning to their students. Caulfield Grammar, with its reputation as being a leading, internationally recognised school, strives to shape students into responsible, global students. Through a variety of different academic and extra-curricular opportunities, the school gives students the skills necessary to excel not only in their future vocation, but in all they do in life. Recognising that technology is central in teaching students, the school actively upgrades and updates their AV equipment.
The team at DIB was approached by Caulfield Grammar with the intention of revamping a video conferencing system in a boardroom located in the Yarra Junction campus. This primarily involved the installation of a client provided VC system, which entailed the integration of existing equipment to the new system.
Installation process
An existing monitor was removed and consequently re-installed and set up by DIB. This was then followed by the installation of a SX20 VC system, provided by the client. This system comes with a camera, a system processor and an external table microphone, which was cabled by DIB so as to integrate with the existing AV system, including audio. All of the AV cabling was installed in a floor box, which then connected this equipment to a Kramer TBUS table box. The box comes with two GPOs, a HDMI input, two microphone sockets and dual USB device charging sockets.
A HDMI input control switcher was installed to facilitate signal connection from either the Apple TV (which was also installed by DIB) or from the HDMI input in the table box. These signals can then be displayed onto the monitor, or during a video conference. Further, an Extron S3 control processor was programmed and integrated with an existing Touch10 panel.
As a way of enhancing the audio quality in the boardroom, two Galil 6-I in-wall speakers were installed along with two 40 watt class D compact amplifiers. This system ensures that everyone’s voices will be heard throughout the room during voice conferences.
