OACC classrooms gain fresh new projector systems

Overnewton Anglican Community College (OACC) is a co-educational, Prep to Year 12 college that prides itself on the high academic results their students achieve. OACC strives to foster a respectful, inclusive learning environment where students are moulded into not only empowered, global citizens well prepared for the world ahead, but into lifelong learners. OACC is committed to achieving excellence, be it academically or in personal endeavour. As such, the college hopes to supplement their students’ school journey by ensuring they have access to the best in educational technology.

OACC engaged the team at DIB and tasked them with installing new AV equipment in two classrooms. After considering the needs of the school, DIB crafted a solution that catered to their requirements.

Installation process

For this project, an EPSON EB-685Wi Ultra Short Throw Interactive Projector was selected for installation. This versatile projector caters for any demand in a modern classroom. As the projector is interactive, it can transform a flat surface into an interactive touch screen. This provides a more hands-on experience to the traditional lesson, as teachers and students can use the special pens or their fingers to interact with the projector. The projector is also self-calibrating and does not need any additional hardware to work, making it simple and easy for anyone to use.

Further, the projector’s 3,500 ANSI Lumens of output and WXGA resolution means that the projector consistently produces luminous, vibrant images that can liven up any presentation or display. As the projector is an ultra-short one, it is able to reduce the shadows and glare that may obscure the crystal clear nature of the images.

To act as a form of audio reinforcement for the projector’s built-in 16W speakers, DIB installed an EPSON 30W speaker system. These 2 x 15 Watt speakers are able to produce high-quality audio, which can effectively carry sound throughout the whole classroom. A 3.5mm audio socket was also fitted to allow for direct connection of an iPod/MP3 device to the speakers.

A Joey Micro wall control panel was installed. With an emphasis on simplicity, these panels place all of the system’s features in one central area for easy access. The panel usually comes with buttons that turn the system on and off, control the volume or select the source to be displayed.

To allow for users to connect their external devices, HDMI, VGA/audio input plate connections were installed to be used alongside the projector’s flexible connecting options. A USB wall plate was also fitted so some of the interactive functions of the projector, such as allowing users to save notes/annotations from the projector directly onto a USB, can be used.
