Camberwell Grammar is a high-achieving independent K-12 school located in the leafy suburb of Canterbury. DIB have had a long-standing relationship with the school, and were contacted when a AV solution was required in the Science Walk area of the school. As with all AV installations, attention to detail is important. For this installation, a key point was to discuss and agree upon a suitable height for the panel to be installed at. This was critical point in the installation process, due to the panel having touchscreen capabilities.
The Philips 65“ Edge LED Touchscreen TV panel (BDL6524ET), with 5 points of touch was chosen for a number of reasons. The best part of this panel is that it comes with a 3-year on-site warranty, which is excellent. It is also a good sized panel, has Full-HD resolution (with a bright and sharp image), helping draw people to interact with the panel. It also creates a feature in the Science Walk area, due to it’s interactive nature, engaging students in the learning process. The Philips panel itself is also quite versatile, allowing for mounting in portrait mode as well as the usual landscape orientation.
As the Philips Touchscreen has a USB plug & play system, this allowed for the easy integration of the BrightSign HD1022 Media Player unit. This device allows for multi-zone or full screen layout of content to be displayed on the panel. The device could sit snugly behind the panel, where it connects into the TV panel via the USB input, giving the touch connectivity of the content on the display. This is the same way an interactive projector gets it touch capabilities; by connecting the USB port on the laptop/PC/tablet to the projector.
The AV installation of the Philips Touchscreen adds a new dimension to Digital Signage and a versatile learning tool to the Science Walk at Camberwell Grammar.
