Recognition rises in the East at Trinity Grammar
Trinity Grammar has a long history as an aspirational learning community. In fact, for over 120 years, they have been providing values-based education to boys that have led to significant academic success.
The East Room was an important project for the school, as it had to suit a variety of purposes from presentation space as well as a location to acknowledge the achievements and success of current and past students.
A side note, but one of relevance is that the East Room is part of the Peter Crawley Centre for the Arts – named for past principal Peter Crawley who was instrumental in Trinity becoming a world leader in the use of laptops in schools. In fact, it was his leadership that led to Microsoft releasing products for schools around the globe with a personal letter from Bill Gates testament to the impact that he made.
Technology was also an integral part of our solution for the school as we had to meet the brief of their creative agency for a single presentation wall of some ten by three metres. To ensure projectors didn’t ruin the aesthetic of the space, we had to develop a multi-projector solution and then work with the creative agency to share how images would be projected and ensure technical requirements were met.
This collaboration made the project even more interesting as we worked to deliver the outcome of the huge digital canvas desired by the content agency and the school, whilst working with the technical considerations of the projectors and other audiovisual equipment.
We reviewed different options including edge-blended projectors and more expensive LED pixel wall solutions and made the final decision to install three projectors which were set up so we could edge-blend and deliver a single large video canvas
Combined with this digital canvas challenge, the space also had to operate as a function room with all the usual requirements of presentations, wireless microphones and other elements you’d find in any large meeting room.
The entire system is controlled by a wall-mounted 7-inch touchscreen control panel and the graphical user interface that the teachers and everyday users interact with to use the system. We based it on a similar design to other spaces throughout the school. This means that although there is complex equipment and different configurations it can be controlled by simple interfaces and options for the day-to-day users.
To ensure quality signals at a long distance we also installed Kramer high-quality HdBaseT
transmitters and receivers with custom Kramer HDBaseT cabling to match.
We also installed a Kramer VS-84H2 which is a high-performance 8×4 matrix switcher for 4K @ 60Hz HDR signals and digital audio routing.
There were also speaker systems, amplifiers and various other components to round out the installation and deliver on the school’s needs.
Just as the sun rises every day in the east, a new multi-purpose space for meetings and to recognise the achievements of students past and present has risen in the East Room at Trinity Grammar.
Recognition rises in the East.
Our team couldn’t be happier with the outcome of this project, and it is satisfying to have overcome some big challenges in meeting the brief of the school and the creative agency.
