Caulfield Grammar School is a boys school ranging in ages from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12, even including some university level programs. It caters for a wide range of students on several different campuses located in Malvern, Caulfield and Wheelers Hill. Caulfield Grammar School’s mission is to “enable quality learning every day in every experience for every learner for life”. This goal to create curious and avid learners is evidenced through their high quality of teaching staff and excellent educational technology.
Caulfield’s Wheelers Hill campus, located near the scenic Dandenong ranges, is a spacious site where learning is a paramount priority. In order to increase the technological capability of the Junior Library space Caulfield engaged DIB to help create a custom technology solution.
This solution was to create a portable AV set up which could be easily moved around the space to suit a variety of class structures and a wide age range.
DIB advised the Gilkon Heavy duty vertical only FP7V3 be installed as it is a robust, purpose built, heavy duty audio visual trolley made by local manufacturer Gilkon. This trolley has the ability to hold a screen up to the weight of 120 kg, has castor wheels which are lockable and is painted with a scratch-resistant coating to make sure it remains aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, it has a motorised up and down control to adjust the height depending on the age of the students and their perspective (i.e. viewing from the ground or from seats).
A Sony Pro Bravia 60″ Full HD Commercial TV was placed on top of the Gilkon portable frame. The large screen size and full high definition quality of the screen made it the perfect choice for the junior library. The screen has 4 HDMI inputs, enabling it to easily connect to external devices.
