The newly opened Multi Disciplinary Centre in Bendigo brings multiple task forces together in one location to help streamline the process of different types of cases. The centre features several departments to investigate various types of offences and can offer support and counselling to the victims of these offences.
Having worked with Victoria Police on many different projects over many years, when this Centre was in the planning phase, the Victoria Police Properties Branch contacted DIB Audio Visual to assist with the planning, design and AV installation in various areas of the MDC. There were several areas that required AV solutions, including a Family Waiting Area, Operations Room, Shared Meeting Room and a Video Conferencing Room.
DIB Consultant James Ridd worked closely with Victoria Police staff to design systems that would suit the needs for each space. In particular, the Video Conferencing Room
Polycom HDX 7000-720 HD Codec unit was selected to provide an excellent Video Conferencing (VC) experience within the conference room. A 55 inch commercial LG panel (55LX341C) was chosen to be the display of choice for the Polycom system, producing a high contrast, Full-HD image.
The Epson EB-1430Wi MeetingMate projector was chosen to do allow staff to make presentations, whilst still maintaining video conferencing capabilities through the Polycom HDX system. The input for USB save function for whiteboard mode, was custom designed and placed out of the way, next to the LG panel. This kept a nice aesthetics in the design of the AV system across the front of the room.
Six Australian Monitor QF8 ceiling speakers to provide clear audio throughout the space, along with Hearing Loop technology was provided to allow for clear audio for anyone who required it. All related AV equipment was mounted in an AV rack in a nearby cupboard, hiding it out of the way, but making it accessible at anytime for staff or for AV service work.
To create a straightforward, easy to use AV system, the Extron TLP Pro 520M, 5 inch touch panel was provided to integrate all aspects of the system. This clearly laid out touchpanel allows staff and visitors to easily access and operate the AV system.
DIB have worked closely with Victoria Police to design, and install AV solutions in a high quality facility, which will meet the needs for the various staff who will be working out of the MDC complex in Bendigo, both now and into the future.
