Aitken College’s learning centre gains interactive projectors

Aitken College prides itself on establishing an environment in which students are able to reach their full potential, expanding their skills and intellect while developing self-esteem and confidence. Guided by a diverse and imaginative curriculum, students are encouraged to use their expanding knowledge as a basis for investigation, problem solving, critical thinking and creativity. The College encourages participation in a wide range of learning experiences through the provision of appropriate extension material and open-ended activities, moving beyond the constraints imposed by the year level structure. To supplement the students’ learning, Aitken College employs the best technological facilities to make teaching students more fun and engaging.

The College approached the team at DIB with the upgrading of their learning centre’s AV systems. This primarily involved the installation of new interactive projectors, which are perfect for the classroom environment.

Installation process

For this project, an EPSON EB-1450Ui Meeting Mate ‘Finger Touch’ interactive projector was installed in five of the classrooms in the learning centre. These multi-purpose interactive projectors add another level of excitement to lessons. With whiteboard function (which allows users to save, print or email notes from the lesson) and dual pen interactivity, the projector is captivating, allowing students to be more hands-on, and thus be more engaged, in class.

Coupled with full HD capabilities, the projector’s 3,800 lumens of brightness allows for any presentations and displays to be vibrant and eye-catching, further catching the attention of students in class.

The speaker system was also updated by installing an EPSON 30 watt external powered speaker system. These speakers allow for clear and unobscured audio by reducing buzzes and noise. This speaker system also features a separate auxiliary input which may be used for direct iPod or audio MP3 device connection.

The projector also comes with a bundled control pad that allows for better functionality. The control pad is neatly designed, allowing for efficient and intuitive operation of the projector. Further, a Joey Micro 6 wall control panel was installed in each classroom. These wall panels get rid of the need for complex and easily lost remote controls and combine all their functionality in one place. The panels are typically set up to include buttons that turn the system on and off, control the volume and source selection.

The projector has a variety of ways through which users can connect their external devices. The wireless connectivity of the projector means that users can monitor, control and present from a remote locations should they choose to do so. The projector also has HDMI and USB inputs for more local connectivity, and a separate USB input specifically used for saving content from the projector onto a USB.
