Melbourne Grammar School actively maintains its long history of academic excellence by providing a comprehensive, fulfilling education to over 1,800 students. By fostering a supportive, strong environment where students are allowed to grow and excel, Melbourne Grammar aims to support students as they develop intellectual, emotionally, spiritually and socially. Melbourne Grammar further strives to provide a broad range of opportunities for students, better connecting them to the global world beyond the classroom.
Melbourne Grammar engaged the DIB team and presented a project: to install a new audio visual system in one of their meeting rooms. After discussing with the client and ascertaining their needs, DIB provided a proposal, detailing a technological solution that would answer the school’s requirements.
Installation process
The main piece of equipment installed in the meeting room was the Philips 55″ Full HD Commercial Lite monitor. This commercial monitor, with its slim and neat design, blends seamlessly into any collaborative working space. The monitor’s full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution ensures readability throughout the room, which is further supplemented by the high quality wall bracket on which the monitor is mounted. The bracket has a 5 degree tilt that functions to enhance the viewing angle.
To improve the audio quality in the meeting room, DIB installed a Kramer 2 x 40 watt in-wall premium stereo system. This hidden audio system features a set of powerful, in-wall speakers and a small, compact amplifier that is hidden inside the wall. The system’s neat and tidy finish ensures that it looks aesthetically pleasing inside the room.
DIB also installed equipment supplied by the client. This included an 32GB Apple TV – which can be used for a wide range of features in the meeting room – and a Cisco SX20 VC system, which easily facilitates video conferencing as it comes with a high quality camera, system processor and an external table microphone.
As simplicity is big in the DIB philosophy, a wall mounted Extron control system was fitted in the meeting room. This panel acts as a centralised control area, which places all of the features of the installed Cisco VC system and other AV equipment in one place. DIB also set up the control panel to support a mirrored control pad via an iPad. This means that the iPad can be used as a secondary control interface.
