Dual EPSON EB-696Ui at De La Salle

Dual EPSON EB-696Ui at De La Salle

A big AV refurbishment for De La Salle College

With two campuses in Malvern, De La Salle College is an independent Catholic school dedicated to providing a strong education for young men. In an encouraging, supportive environment, the College takes pride in encouraging and empowering students to achieve their goals and strive for excellence in all their endeavours, which further equips them with the skills necessary to participate and engage productively with wider society. De La Salle recognises that educating students effectively requires efficient, intuitive technology to support both the staff and students.

The team at DIB worked with De La Salle on a big project: updating the AV equipment for De La Salle’s science building. Refurbishing the AV systems in 9 classrooms, DIB aimed to enhance the learning experience by providing better, more effective interactive technology.

Installation process

For seven of the classrooms, an EPSON EB-696Ui Interactive Projector was installed. This innovative projector can be used to make lessons more engaging and captivating to students. Combining the functions of a conventional whiteboard and a projector, this interactive whiteboard allows staff and students to interact with the displays, using either their fingers or with the projector’s special pens. Teachers can utilise this technology to liven up the classroom, promoting student engagement and more hands-on learning. The projector also features 3,500 ANSI lumens of brightness and full HD resolution, which is crucial for interactivity. One of the classrooms featured a double system, with two EPSON EB-696Ui projectors that can cover a large wall-size area for users to interact with.

While the projector comes with built-in 16W speakers, DIB installed a pair of Kramer powered stereo speakers. Featuring two 30W speakers, this system acts as a means of audio reinforcement, better filling the classroom with audio from the projector.

To make the system easier and simpler to use, DIB installed a Joey Micro 9 wall control panel in each classroom. These panels take the functions that users need on a day-to-day basis and make them easy to access, coming with buttons that turn the system on and off, select the source to be projected, and control the volume.

For the other two classrooms, DIB installed 32″ Philips commercial monitors. With full HD (1920×1080) resolution, these versatile monitors can fulfill the needs of any space.

In all of the classrooms, a Vivi wireless receiver was installed in each room. As a result of the Vivi’s screen mirroring technology, the classroom transforms into an interactive, collaborative learning space where teachers can better engage and help students, rather than staying at the front of the classroom.

An integrated HDMI and USB input plate was fitted in all of the classrooms. The HDMI input allows users to connect their devices to the projector locally, while the USB plate can be used with the interactive functions of the projector, such as saving annotations from the projector directly onto a USB stick.
