Here is a tale about a park and a hall.
Indigenous Australians first inhabited the area that is now Albert Park around 40,000 years ago. The area was a series of swamps and lagoons. The main park after which the suburb was named was declared a public park and named in 1864 to honour Queen Victoria’s consort, Prince Albert.[2]
Whilst the Royal Albert Hall in London and Albert Park were both named after Queen Victoria’s beloved Bertie, this tale isn’t about that particular hall.
It is about one a little closer to home, and beloved by the students and teachers of Albert Park Primary School, where it is situated.
Albert Park Primary School was founded in January 1873, and was initially known as the “Mechanics’ Institute School No. 1181”. Architect Joseph Schneider had won a competition to design the two-storey brick school building and while this was being built, 400 of the students were housed in the Mechanics’ Institute on the corner of Dorcas and Cecil Streets. A further 254 students were in the Orderly Room of the Emerald Hill Artillery.
The DIB Audiovisual team were delighted to design and install a complete video and audio system into this beautiful room.
We installed an EPSON EB-PU2010B 10,000 ANSI WUXGA Large Venue Laser Projector and protected it with an all-steel security cage.
An Extron 7″ touchscreen was set up to provide very intuitive simplified control of the audiovisual system for all users.
Turning to this high quality brand once again, we also supplied, installed and programmed an Extron SMP351 H.264 Streaming Media Processor. The SMP 351 is a streaming media processor for capturing and distributing live AV sources and presentations.
A lumens pan tilt and zoom camera allows for streaming of events.
When you think quality sound and microphones – Sennheiser is at the top of the list – and both handheld and head microphones were included in the specifications.
Along with a set of FBT Vertus Compact Line Array Speakers.
This was an enjoyable project bringing ultra modern audio and video to a stately old school hall.
Maybe this local school hall and the Royal Albert Hall do share something in common – a passion for the promotion and support of the Arts.
