Kilbreda College is an all-girls secondary school ranging from years 7-12. The college is renowned for its academic excellence, providing the students with a holistic education in order to make them “confident to embrace an ever-changing world” (Source Kilbreda College website). The College maintains an extremely high standard of technology to equip the students with edu-tech opportunities.
Kilbreda College was seeking to revitalise their food technology space. They wanted to enhance the experience of their students in this specialist classroom by setting up a camera system. This camera would allow all students in the room to easily view the teacher’s demonstration and grasp an idea of various cooking techniques. Kilbreda approached the DIB team in order to form an appropriate technology solution for their foodtech room.
The DIB team came up with a custom made solution. A DiscoveryLab HD camera system was selected. The team designed, supplied and installed a full HD-SDI dome camera system for work area preview. The HD camera was positioned directly over the benchtop and stove area which can be streamed directly to the projector system. The camera is controlled by a foot switch and is designed for intuitive use by the teacher.

To compliment the new camera system, a new EPSON EB-1980WU WUXGA FULL HD Projector was installed. This projector boasts ease of connectivity, HD quality and simple use. This projector enables a clear image of the camera’s footage to be seen on a large projector screen. Additionally, the projector can be used for standard usage through HDMI. This expands the capability of the projector as the teacher can display recipes and useful information from their laptop as well as demonstrating cooking procedures first-hand from the camera.
