Mary MacKillop (Werribee) is a co-educational, secondary Catholic school that has been providing excellence in education within a faith community since 1970. DIB Australia have established a long term relationship with staff at the college over several years. So, when the college required a functional AV solution for their Deputy Principal’s Meeting Room, they contacted DIB.
The existing setup in the Meeting Room was time consuming; it involved bringing out a projector onto the table, setting it all up, as well as pulling down a projector screen. After several in-depth conversations with the client, an AV solution was decided upon that would be both functional and aesthetically pleasing in the space. There were two main requirements for this Meeting Room installation. The first was having simple-to-use BYOD Video Conferencing (VC) solution and the second was a new projector solution for the existing setup.
To find the best solution for a BYOD VC solution, various devices were tested by staff at the college to decide which best suited their needs.. In the end, a Logitech ConferenceCam (model CC3000e) was chosen as the preferred BYOD VC device. There were several feature which made it a great choice. Firstly, it produced great audio feedback, no matter where you were sitting in the meeting room. It also worked quickly and easily, via a USB plug-and-play setup. It had a central pod, which had an a easy-to-use interface for the user. The whole system can also be used in conjunction with almost any Video Conferencing app, such as Skype or Microsoft Link. The high-quality Carl Zeiss lens (1080p) inside the PTZ camera enables the user to focus on any specific place in the meeting room with razor-sharp close-up capability. This is also attributed to the inbuilt auto-focus and 10x optical zoom that come as part of the unit.
To create an aesthetically pleasing AV installation, the Epson EB-585W ultra-short throw projector was chosen. This allowed the existing pull down screen to be removed, and project images straight onto the existing whiteboard. A pair of Epson 15W speakers were mounted either side of the projector for audio playback. In line with DIB Australia’s approach of providing simple-to-use AV systems, a Joey Micro 6 (MkIII) control panel was installed with easy to understand button selections. Inputs for HDMI & VGA connection plates were also installed to provide a straightforward interface for laptop/tablets to connect with the projector.
The Logitech ConferenceCam CC3000e is an easy-to-integrate VC solution for any meeting room. Feedback from staff who are using the space say that it is working well and they are happy with the AV solution provided.
