Kingswood College is an independent, co-educational Prep to Year 12 school. Founded by the Uniting Church, this school is located in the inner-eastern suburb of Box Hill. A culture where students are encouraged to “know themselves & be themselves” encompasses the culture at Kingswood College. As such, technology is apart of that and DIB have built a strong relationship with the school. So, in late 2014 when some of the AV in the classrooms needed upgrading, DIB was contacted to provide custom solutions for almost 30 classrooms/learning spaces.
As with all DIB installations, an emphasis is placed on creating simple, easy-to-use systems, which are enjoyable to use and are designed to provide an aesthetically pleasing finish.
As no one room is the same, it was important with these room upgrades that great attention to detail was given to make for a seamless installation process. In addition to variations between rooms, a specific deadline was given, in which scheduling complexities had to be overcome, due to the large number of AV installations that were required.
In many rooms, existing JED control panels were re-programmed (where possible) to help keep the costs of the installations down. By using the JED T460 control panel throughout all middle and senior classrooms, uniformity is gained across the school, making it easy for all teachers to use the AV technology. The JED T460 comes with an easy 4-button operation and a bright LED text panel to display the status of the AV system.
As part of the upgrades at Kingswood College, all Early Learning Centre classrooms had the Philips 55” LCD panels (BDL5520QL) installed. To enable more effective sharing of information in staff meetings, the same Philips TV panel was installed in the Staff Meeting Room.
In the lower school, the Epson EB595Wi interactive projectors were chosen as the prefered model for installation, due to their interactive functionality. In the middle and senior school the Epson EB-585W projectors were chosen for the remaining upgraded rooms.
In addition to all these upgrades, the Junior School foyer area gained the AV installation of a Philips 42″ LCD Edge LED (BDL4220Q) TV, for the use of Digital Signage.
Not only was the complexities of completing a large number of AV installations met within the desired timeframe, but feedback from the Kingswood is that the AV installations are going really well. This may also be attributed to DIB also providing all relevant staff at the college with the training associated using with the AV technology effectively.
