Koonung Secondary College is a secondary state school in Mont Albert North, Victoria, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. The school takes its name from the nearby Koonung Creek. Its school catchment includes the suburbs of Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Balwyn, Balwyn North, Doncaster, Box Hill, Box Hill North, Surrey Hills and Burwood.

Koonung Secondary College

According to Ian D Clark of the Federation University, the word Koonung may be derived from a Jardwadjali word – Kurnung – meaning hill or impediment or river – yet there is some debate on this, with other authors saying the word doesn’t not have a clear Etymology.

According to the Principal’s Message on the school website, one clear goal for student improvement that is embedded in the school’s mission is:

To create a stimulating learning environment which builds our students’ capacity for deep thinking and to increase the level of student agency and engagement within our community.

The team at DIB are all about stimulating learning environments using the multiple sensory experience that high quality audiovisual equipment can bring to a space.

We are passionate about quality products and smart, professional design and install for a reason. Anybody who has ever attended a presentation where the sound was poor, or the visuals difficult to see – it can get in the way of the intended communication.

This is why we put some much energy into considering the space into which we are installing the projector screen or space. For example, hard surfaces and glasses can cause sound to bounce around the room requiring careful choice of speakers. Or projector installation points may require us to select a more compatible lens or a brighter projector in the design and specification stage.

Koonung College had a vision of improving the system in the school library.

After consultation with the client, the DIB team specified a high quality EPSON EB-990U 3800 ANSI WUXGA Projector paired to a wall mounted Joey Micro 6 – simplified wall control panel. This new capacitative touch Joey simplifies operation of your system and does away with the need for complex and easily lost remote controls.

EPSON EB-990U 3800 ANSI WUXGA Projector

Motorised: Grandview SmartScreen 110″ 16:10 Projection Screen

In this case, we were able to also install cabling and match the new projector to an existing audio system.

As always we also removed and responsibly recycled any old equipment to divert it from landfill. A key plank of our commitment to sustainability and becoming a carbon neutral organisation.
