Project Overview

Christ Church Grammar School is a co-educational primary school located in South Yarra, serving students from 3 years old in Kindergarten to Year 6. D.I.B Audio Visual was involved in the project of restoring and refurbishing the school’s 1920s Memorial Hall.
The school was searching for an AV company that could provide a good AV design for the renovation. We were chosen for our extensive experience and ability to integrate and design within challenging spaces, we were excited to be part of the project. However, the unique requirements of the space, including a very narrow stage and high ceiling, presented challenges.
The hall is used for assemblies, productions, and after-school care. To avoid potential damage to a projector screen, we opted to use the back wall for projections. This choice was both cost-effective and safe.
The placement of the projector was crucial due to the narrow stage and limited installation space. Installed directly behind the stage curtain trim, it was concealed from the audience’s view. To blend seamlessly into the background and protect it from potential damage, we selected a black projector. From the early stages of project design, we worked closely with the school and architect to ensure alignment with the school’s objectives, providing both consultation and design services throughout the project.
We optimised the audio and visual experience to ensure every audience member had a clear view and quality sound, despite the challenges of the narrow stage. Through extensive planning and simulations, we identified and implemented the best solutions for the space.
Additionally, we installed a hearing augmentation system to demonstrate our commitment to inclusivity and accommodate the diverse needs of the school community.
Our focus on simplicity ensures that the system is user-friendly. D.I.B. considers ease of use throughout every step of the design process. We created a control system featuring a simple graphic user interface, aiming to simplify complexity without wasting the school staff’s valuable time.
As a result, the Christ Church Grammar School project was a testament to our ability to navigate and overcome complex challenges through careful planning, innovative design, and a collaborative approach. By working closely with the school and architects from the outset, we ensured that the AV solutions met the specific needs of the 1920s Memorial Hall, enhancing its functionality while preserving its historical essence. Our focus on inclusivity, high quality, safety, and user-friendliness resulted in a state-of-the-art AV installation that not only met but exceeded the expectations of the school community. This project underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, tailored AV solutions that cater to the unique demands of our clients.
