Founded in 1881, Caulfield Grammar School is an independent co-educational institution in Melbourne. The school
operates multiple campuses, serving 3,570 students and employing around 1,000 staff members with over 250 sports coaches. This shows how highly the school values sports for their students, making it no surprise they want to invest in the best sports equipment.
Caulfield Grammar invited DIB Audio Visual to assist with a proposed digital scoreboard. The school and DIBAV have a long- standing partnership of over 15 years.
The desired location for the scoreboard was on a large sports field primarily used for football and cricket. This presented
various challenges. Furthermore, the larger the space, the larger the screen needed to provide clear visibility from all
angles. This would require a substantial amount of power, therefore we consulted with the school on multiple occasions to discuss the most suitable screen options. Our goal was to ensure we met their functionality needs while keeping within their budget. We agreed upon a high-quality solution: an LED screen with exceptional resolution and brightness.
This screen could not only act as a scoreboard but could also be used to play videos. The client wanted feeds from other buildings, so signals had to be adapted and transmitted across their network. They also wanted the ability to integrate the scoreboard software with their existing siren system. We successfully integrated this with the automated scoreboard application.
We provided a simple touchscreen interface that allowed them to select inputs from various locations and override the siren system if needed. Additionally, we included an audio output socket on the field, enabling them to connect portable
speakers for when they wanted to play videos on the screen.
The end result was a huge success, and the scoreboard is now in active use for many of the school’s sports matches.
