Broadmeadows Special Developmental School’s Sorrento campus has recently upgraded its gymnasium with a tailored audio visual solution, designed to meet the school’s specific needs without unnecessary complexity or cost. As a specialist school with a smaller student population, the gym is used occasionally for assemblies, presentations, and information nights. When it came time D.I.B Audio Visual to equip the space with AV technology, the goal was clear: keep it simple, make it reliable, and ensure it meets the school’s unique needs.
The solution included:
- Epson large venue laser projector with a long throw zoom lens, selected to suit athrow distance of approximately 15 metres. Epson’s specialised lens range allows for flexible installation in larger spaces, supporting distances nearly double that—depending on screen size and layout. In this case, it was paired with a 200-inch Grandview screen for optimal viewing clarity.
- Point source audio system with amplification for clear speech and music coverage across the space.
- Bluetooth audio wall plate, allowing staff to connect wirelessly and play music or audio content without needing to power on the projector system— perfect for casual use or setting up before events.
- Extron MLC 8-button control panel—providing simple, reliable operation with just the essentials: power, source selection, and volume control. Staff can set up quickly without managing multiple remotes or complicated menus.
- Audio integration with the school’s existing hearing augmentation system, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity are maintained throughout events.
By focusing on real-world usage, the system is powerful enough to deliver crisp visuals and clear audio when needed, while remaining intuitive for everyday staff to operate. The result is a dependable AV setup that supports the school’s events without overextending the budget.
At DIB Audio Visual, we believe the best solution isn’t always the biggest—it’s the one designed for how your space is truly used.
