EPSON EB-685W 3500 ANSI WXGA Ultra Short Throw Projector

Projector upgrades for Westall Secondary College

Westall Secondary College strives to foster a learning environment that aims to push students to achieve their best in all aspects of their schooling life. As such, the educational, physical, social and emotional development of each student is at the forefront. With a relentless focus on continuous improvement, the school sets high expectations for their students, challenging them with engaging, rigorous learning opportunities to supplement their learning. The school aims to provide students with the skills and tools necessary to develop into independent thinkers ready for the world ahead of school.

The team at DIB worked with the school to upgrade the AV equipment in two of Westall’s classrooms. This involved revamping the projector systems for both rooms.

Installation process

For both rooms, the EPSON EB-685W 3500 ANSI WXGA Ultra Short Throw Projector was chosen. With 3500 ANSI Lumens of output, the projector is capable of producing bright, vibrant displays, better capturing the students’ attention during lessons. Because it is a ultra short throw projector, less shadows and glare obscure the projected images, meaning that the crystal clear displays will be unobstructed and seen by everyone in the room.

A high quality ultra short throw wall bracket was installed to suit the projector. This bracket conceals any cabling within itself, giving the installation a neat finish. The universal nature of the bracket means that changing over projectors in the future will be quick and easy, saving time and effort down the road.

To suit the new projector system, the DIB team reprogrammed the existing Joey/JED control panel to maintain the easy usability of the projector. This involved re-doing button labels and the panel front as necessary.

The projector has a variety of ways through which users can connect their external devices. The wireless connectivity of the projector means that users can monitor, control and present from a remote locations should they choose to do so. The projector also has HDMI and USB inputs for more local connectivity.
