With a long history of academic excellence and innovative educational methods, Heathdale Christian College prides itself on cultivating a learning environment that both encourages and challenges students to achieve new highs in every aspect of school life. With a curriculum influenced by the Christian philosophy, the school aims to prepare students for the working world ahead whilst ensuring that they are given every opportunity to broaden their appreciation of the world around them.
Heathdale Christian College sought out the help of DIB as they were interested in upgrading the AV systems for 10 of their classrooms. After considering the needs of the client, DIB formed a solution that would best meet these requirements.
Six of the classrooms saw the installation of an EPSON EB-695Wi Interactive Finger Touch Projector. The projector’s 3,500 ANSI lumens of output means that it can produce ultra-bright, vibrant images that make presentations and displays more eye-catching. As the projector is interactive, it can turn any whiteboard or flat surface into a interactive touch screen without any additional hardware or drivers. This means that students and teachers alike can use their fingers or the pens to interact with the projector, which can add an element of fun and excitement and increase student engagement in the classroom.
While the projectors come with built-in 16W speakers, DIB installed an EPSON 30 Watt speaker system to act as a form of audio reinforcement. These 2 x 15 Watt speakers, which match the projector system, are able to carry high-quality, noise-free audio throughout the classroom. A 3.5mm socket was also fitted to allow iPod/MP3 devices direct connection to the speakers without the projector needing to be open.
The other four classrooms were installed with an EPSON EB-2155W Installation Projector. Thanks to the projector’s 5,000 ANSI lumens of brightness and WXGA widescreen resolution, the projector is able to produce ultra-bright and vivid images. This is perfect for bigger learning area as it ensures that everyone can see the projected images, regardless of unfavorable lighting or the location of the projection in the room.
To allow for easy use of the new system, an Extron MLC55 6 button wall control panel was installed in most of the rooms. By condensing all of the AV system’s features in one place, it adds a simplicity that removes hassle from trying to figure out technology and delaying the beginning of the lesson. The panels are usually set up to include buttons that turn the system on and off, control the volume and select the source to be projected.
Extra HDMI and VGA/Audio input plates were fitted in all of the rooms to allow for some extra connecting options. For the rooms with the interactive projector, a USB input plate made for interactive display was fitted. This plate allows users to plug in a USB and use the projector’s features, such as saving notes from the projector directly to a USB stick.
