Caulfield Grammar School seeks to provide quality learning for all their students, shaping them into responsible citizens well equipped for the rapidly changing world ahead. This commitment to having the best technological facilities possible means that their students have access to the best resources to supplement their learning.
This was certainly the case when the school trusted the team at DIB with their AV installations for one of their now-extended buildings, Roy Hoult. This project involved installing monitors, interactive or otherwise, across eleven rooms.
Installation process
The bulk of the installations was centered around the installation of a CommBox Classic Interactive 80″ 4K Touch monitor. Installed in seven classrooms, the CommBox Classic is filled with features that increase classroom engagement with students. With an 80″ screen, with 75″ touch and viewable area, the monitor adds an extra element of fun during lessons, allowing students to interact with the presentations projected on screen. Using infrared and camera technology, the monitor has ultra fast and accurate touch response, with 4 points of touch at any one time. Coupled with the ultra HD and 4k resolution, which allows the monitor to project vibrant and crisp images, the monitor perfectly captures the interests and attention of students, maximising the limited learning time.

To compliment the CommBoxes, a CommBox Soundbar was installed. This accessory, which comes with a mounting bracket designed to fit all CommBox models, connects directly to the speaker output of the touchscreen, producing high quality sound. The soundbar hangs directly off and below the screen, fitting in neatly and cleanly with the system.
Other non-touch monitors were installed in five of the other shared learning and presentation areas. One of the monitors selected was the LG 55″ Full HD Commercial Lite monitor (with integrated HDTV). With a slim and neat design to suit any space, this monitor has full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, capable of producing high-quality, bright images that can liven up any presentation.

Two of the non-touch monitors were framed with a custom screen surround. The surround was custom designed, supplied and installed by DIB, with the purpose of concealing the cabling and the mount, giving the monitors a neat, finished appearance.

To supplement the monitors, an Extron MLC Plus 100 control panel was installed in some of the rooms. The MLC Plus 100 control panels come with clearly labelled on and off buttons, a rotary volume control with an LED indicator, and 4 multi-function buttons. These panels serve to simplify the operation of the system by putting all the necessary functions in one place.

Most rooms were fitted with a HDMI and USB input plate connections, allowing students and staff to make the most of the monitors’ HDMI capabilities by allowing them to connect their external devices.
